What do I need to use DDR5 memory in my system?

600 series (or newer) motherboard chipset*

Intel - 12th generation Core processor (or newer)

AMD – Ryzen 7000 series processor (or newer)

*When selecting components, make sure the motherboard supports DDR5
Is DDR5 backward compatible with DDR4?

No. DDR5 has a different pin layout than DDR4 and DDR3. This means that DDR4 motherboards are not compatible with DDR5 RAM.
Why isn't my memory reaching its rated frequency?

You should check the following:

Are the modules in the correct slots?

Is XMP/EXPO enabled?

Are your BIOS, chipset, and other drivers up to date?

Is the memory listed as supported on our website?
Can I combine multiple kits of CORSAIR DDR5 memory?

We strongly recommend that you DO NOT combine multiple kits of CORSAIR DDR5 memory. Our memory kits are only validated for their rated performance when only the modules included in that specific kit (box) are used.
